The major benefit of renting a Disney timeshare is the proximity to Disney attractions, world-class shopping, and top-notch golf. In addition other benefits include the well-respected Disney reputation for cleanliness, customer service, themed resorts, quality amenities, and attractive accommodations. One resort is the Animal Kingdom Lodge located at Disney World in Florida, where daily and weekly rentals are available. Cost is about $500 per night and $3,000 per week.

Only several years old, the villas are as close to an animal adventure that you can get in a resort. With an African theme, the entire resort exudes a feel of the wild—from the décor to the names of restaurants and amenities. Above all, the exotic animals that roam the property make this a vacation spot that is truly out of the ordinary. In keeping with the authentic African theme, restaurants have names such as Jiko, The Mara, Uzima Springs Pool Bar, and Boma—The Flavors of Africa. Recreational areas are named Hakuna Matata Playground, Pumbaa’s Fun & Games Arcade, Simba’s Cubhouse, Uzima Pool, Zahanati Massage and Fitness Center, and Zawadi Marketplace.

The variety of accommodations includes the studio that sleeps four, the one- and two-bedroom homes that sleep five and nine respectively, and the grand villa that sleeps up to twelve. All types of accommodations have flat-screen televisions and DVD players while the one- and two-bedroom homes have full kitchens and laundry facilities in the units. Eighty percent of the units have a view of the tropical savanna and the remaining units view the pool, garden, or parking lot.

Disney timeshare rentals should be a consideration when nearness to a Disney park, outstanding accommodations, distinct amenities, and a reputation for quality are important.

My wife and I spent our entire afternoon enjoying the kiddy section of the park with our 4 year old niece and had a wonderful time. She met Scooby Doo, Dora the Explorer and enjoyed at least a dozen different age appropriate rides and attractions (and enough junk food to possibly constitute child abuse). We then handed her off for the trip home with her mother, enjoyed some surprisingly good pizza for dinner and settled in for the scare of our lives!

Kings Dominion literally transforms from a kid-friendly, Nickelodeon-themed paradise into a zombie rich fear-fest after 7pm; from G-rated entertainment suddenly hopped up to a PG-13 scare-o’-ramma. This is one Halloween adventure you don’t want to miss!

Events available at the park include a handful of “scare zones” complimented by more than a half dozen terrifying mazes and several leap-from-your-seat shows such as the chilling Haunted Homecoming and Disturbia. Scares aren’t just limited to the themed areas, though. Something creepy might jump out at you anytime, anyplace!

While many of the props are out during the day, they don’t give away what you’re in store for once the Sun goes down. The park simply takes on a much more sinister (but delightful) feel at night.

I do want to make parents aware that there are several props around that might “spook” very young children a bit during the day. Our niece found the giant skeleton ghost hanging from the tower frightening enough that we had to dodge around it a bit. The section of the park for young children, however, is free of such obstacles.

It also warrants repeating that the evening adventures are best suited for children 13 and above (trust me on this). Besides, the elements that very young children enjoy (KidZville and Nikelodeon Central are suspended after 7PM anyway.

Finally, the haunt is in operation on Friday, Saturday and Sunday through October. Friday Nights – September 26, October 3, 10, 17, 24, 31. Saturday and Sunday – September 27, 28, October 4,5,11,12,18,19,25,26, November 1. So there’s still some time left to get scared out of your skin!

Oh, one more thing for you adrenaline junkies out there…, not only will there be plenty scares around the park to keep your heart pumping but the best rides of the park are open at night, as well and nothing beats a great roller coaster ride such as the Volcano, the Grizzly or, my favorite, the Anaconda! That takes this from just your ordinary, everyday Halloween adventure and turns it in to a truly GREAT Halloween adventure!

This yearly festival attracts thousands of tourists and tour groups from around the world and has TWICE been recognized as one of the 100 best events in North America. For many people, the Renaissance Festival has become a tradition. It is an escape; a way to leave behind the hassles of the 21^st Century and enter a world where computers, traffic, and hectic schedules don’t exist (sounds heavenly, doesn’t it!?).

Children REALLY LOVE the Renaissance Festival! Can you think of a better place to let their imaginations run wild? There are so many events and activities for kids it can be difficult to figure out what to do first! Pony rides, juggling school, face painting, Irish dancing, magic shows, super slides and much, much more!     There are also special children events planned such as the Princess & Pirate Party Weekend and the Pirate Adventure Weekend. Your little kiddie can also participate in a Children’s Knighting Ceremony. That is, of course, if he promises to serve his King and Queen….otherwise known as his parents!

The Maryland Renaissance Festival has become the region’s premier event. Set on 25 acres of beautiful wooded land the festival opens in late August and ends in late October. It is open rain or shine and has over 80 acres of parking available. Adult tickets cost $15 to $18 and the price of a child’s ticket is $8.00 (children under the age of 6 are free). There are also special group packages available that will save you some money. 

If you are looking for a great adventure that will also take you back in time…then look no further. The Maryland Renaissance Festival has been around for 31 years and keeps getting better! Oh…and one more thing. You can now get married at the festival! Wedding ceremonies will be scheduled to take place at the Renaissance Chapel between September 6^th and October 19^th.  One note, you must be dressed in Renaissance Costumes in order to use the facilities….and don’t worry, a wench playing a harpsichord is available to provide your wedding music.

Located in Central Florida at the head of the Florida Everglades, Gatorland is privately owned by the Godwin Family and first opened its jaws…oops, I mean doors, in 1949. There are many things to do and see at Gatorland. For example, Alligator Island is home to the largest reptiles in the park. Here you will find hundreds of gators soaking up the Florida sun….but don’t get too close….you don’t want to end up as gator food, do you?

If a swamp walk is more your speed then you are in luck! Located at the Southern end of the park is the Gatorland Swamp. This self-guided tour lets you enjoy the beauty of an unspoiled, native Cypress Swamp in all its glory! Next, why not enjoy Flamingo Lagoon? Stop by and take a few photographs of one of the most beautiful tropical birds in the world. Flamingo Lagoon is home to a small colony of American Flamingos. Did you know that these bright pink beauties can live up to 40 years in captivity and can reach a height of 5 feet!?

There are many things to see and experience at Gatorland. The park is open daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, rain or shine! Alligators and crocodiles tend to be extremely active on wet, rainy days. If you don’t mind getting a little damp, then stop by on a stormy day. You are guaranteed to see some great gator action and there will be no lines to wait in! An adult day pass to Gatorland will cost you $22.99 and a child day pass will cost you $14.99. Not bad, considering that some of the entry fee goes to gator research, education, and preservation! Here’s to another great adventure…..later alligator!

If you crave chocolate and you crave adventure….why not put the two together and create one big chocolate vacation! Hershey, Pennsylvania is a chocolate paradise, not to mention it is a place full of great adventures just waiting to happen! 

Milton S. Hershey dreamed of building a town in which his factory employees could live and be part of a tight-knit community. Well that dream was realized and today, Hershey, Pennsylvania is one of the largest tourist attractions in the United States. 

There are MANY things to do and see in the town of Hershey. It would take forever to list them all…so let’s keep it simple and stick to one of my favorite things: CHOCOLATE!!!!  

Hershey’s Chocolate World is an interactive chocolate experience designed for the entire family! Here you will learn how chocolate is made, take a tour of the chocolate factory, watch a huge, 3-D chocolate show and of course, shop for anything and everything chocolate! 

If relaxing is what you had in mind then why not visit the Chocolate Spa! The Chocolate Spa is located inside the Hershey Hotel and offers such treatments as the luxurious whipped cocoa bath, chocolate sugar scrub, and my favorite, the chocolate fondue wrap. While all of these treatments sound yummy….oops, I mean relaxing….don’t forget your wallet! Individual treatments will set you back $60 to $125 depending on what you choose.

If roller coasters are more your speed then you MUST visit Hershey Park! Hershey Park opened its doors for the first time in April of 1907 and has been expanding ever since. Fair warning, if you eat too many Kit Kat Bars and then take a ride on the Sidewinder, you may need to change your clothes afterward (not a good idea for the old tummy!). 

As mentioned in our post on Hot Air Ballooning, Hershey Park also hosts the Hershey Park Balloonfest. It’s scheduled for October 22nd through the 24th this year and is a site to behold. Check out one of the traveling vendors for impressive memorabilia and model balloons.

Hershey, Pennsylvania is a place where chocolate dreams come true and a new adventure awaits you around every corner. Whether you love golf, amusement park rides, or simply relaxing by the pool….Hershey offers something for everyone! Oh…and I’ll let you in on a little secret…you don’t even have to like chocolate to have a great time!
