Every since I got my electric camping lantern, camping has never been the same again. There is nothing worse than setting up your tent in the dark. Tip number one is always try to give yourself plenty of time to get to your campsite and set up your tent while it is still daylight out. The only thing that beats setting up your tent in the dark is setting up your tent in the rain. But hey, we are supposed to be talking about the camping lantern so let’s get to it.
We go our first lantern as a free gift from some rewards program. It was a Coleman camping lantern and this one just happened to be a rechargeable one. It had two different levels of brightness and a cute little yellow nightlight. I figured the night light was for the times when you wake up in your tent and you need to find something like your pants and you don’t want to wake up your tent partner so you just turn on this night light and all is well.
The two levels of brightness are not very distinguishable. First off the bulb is one of those CFLs, if you don’t know what that is it is the light bulb that looks like a curly cue. I figure that saves more battery power since it takes less energy to power a CFL versus an incandescent light bulb.
We enjoy having our rechargeable camping lantern with us in the tent when we are getting ready for nighttime. It is kind of awkward trying to hold a flashlight and put on your pajamas at the same time so a lantern makes it all a lot easier.
The only complaint I have about this type of camping lantern is that if you lose the charger for it then you can’t recharge it and it is practically worthless then. In my case the charger wasn’t anything fancy it was just a regular AC adaptor, one I can probably find at my local radio shack.
In summary I highly recommend getting an electric camping lantern versus a gas lantern for your camping adventures. It is totally safe and very easy to use.
There are a lot of camping items designed to meet the various uses people may have. You can find a lot of portable items to use with a camper, such as an outdoor porch or an awning. There are also a lot of different camping chairs you can buy. Most chairs made for use in the outdoors have a fabric material that is placed over the basic metal frame. The fabric helps create a soft comfortable seat to sit in. It also allows the item to be collapsible, which makes it easier to transport.
The folding camping chairs can come as a full size chair or as a stool. The stool design comes on a tripod type stand and has a fabric seat. There is no backrest for this type of chair so it doesn’t work well for people that are going to be sitting for a long period of time. Many people use these chairs for activities other than camping. Because they can collapse, they fit easily inside the trunk of a car to take along for a lot of different outdoor activities. You can use them as seating in a park at a picnic outing.
The fabric design is more comfortable to sit on, than a traditional park bench. You can also choose a lounge chair style that comes with an overhead canopy. This is a good chair to take to the beach, because the canopy helps shield the rays of the sun. There are also some designs that resemble a suitcase in appearance. These portable styles do not have a frame to stand on, but instead come as a hinged case type unit that opens to form the seat and back of the piece. Whatever outdoor activity you need a chair for, you will find a type to fit your needs.
Camping is something that means different things to different people. Because of this, a camping tent is something that is very personal and individual. Someone who is hiking the Appalachian Trail by themselves will have different needs from a large family that is doing car camping.
The 2 man tent review will be helpful to you when you are searching for the right backpacking model for you. Listen to the recommendations of fellow hikers and the suggestions of associates at the local gear store.
There are a few things to keep in mind when making this important purchase. It will be keeping you dry and out of the elements, so it is not a decision to make lightly. The tent needs to be durable and lightweight, but also sturdy and should include all of the features needed.
The season that is it equipped for is important. If you are not doing winter camping and weight is a concern, you should choose a model that is designed for cooler seasons. The cover and fly will add or detract a lot of weight. If you have a separate fly with a vestibule and extra poles, the weight increases greatly.
The ease of setup is important when deciding. You should be able to quickly set up and tear down. A complicated set up or one that has flimsy connections will not make you happy. There are often different schools of thought as to which method is best, clips or sleeves. Both have proven themselves over the years, so it often comes down to personal preference.
Accessories and features are very important when finding the right one. The placement of the doors and windows as well as vestibules and inside pockets have different priorities for different people. Every person has different needs, so it is best to get the 2 man tent that is right for you.
